Dr. Tom Pliura practices as a physician and attorney in the state of Illinois, serving patients and clients with over 30 years of experience. He earned his B.S. degree from Southern Illinois University and received his J.D. and M.D. from the University of Illinois. Over the course of his career, he has represented hundreds of clients – both defendants and plaintiffs – in wrongful death and medical malpractice suits, obtaining millions of dollars in settlement and judgments for plaintiffs in meritorious claims, and obtaining defense verdicts for physicians in non-meritorious claims.  Capitalizing on his unique experience as a physician and attorney, most of his practice is related to healthcare in one form or another, including complex healthcare antitrust litigation and physician contracting and professional licensure disputes.  Additionally, he has been personally requested by Federal District Court Judges to represent indigent prison inmates in claims of violation of their constitutional rights related to inadequate healthcare.

As a physician, Tom has worked in emergency rooms across the state and regularly works as an urgent care physician at a clinic he owns and operates near the campus of the University of Illinois.  In addition, he owns and/or manages surgery centers, urgent care facilities and a diagnostic imaging center, alongside his wife, Pam.

His legal professional memberships include the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, McLean County Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is admitted to practice law in Illinois and Missouri as well as all Federal Courts in Illinois and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.   His medical professional memberships include the American Medical Association, Illinois State Medical Society, and the McLean County Medical Society. He is licensed to practice medicine in Illinois and Missouri. Through the McLean County Medical Society, Tom launched the first human cadaver lab in central Illinois for high school students interested in medicine.

Tom currently resides in his hometown of LeRoy, IL. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and studying Native American history.
